A Bold New Era for UK Athletics
At the University of Kentucky, athletics doesn’t just happen on the field or court — it fuels scholarships, supports groundbreaking research and connects communities across Kentucky and beyond. Now, as college sports enter a new era, UK is leading the way with an innovative model to sustain success and strengthen our future.
Projects Underway
In June, the UK Board of Trustees approved an internal loan to UK Athletics to fund critical facility upgrades and new initiatives. These investments — ranging from improvements to Kroger Field to enhanced soccer and softball facilities, as well as plans for an entertainment district — are designed to strengthen the student-athlete experience, expand fan engagement and position UK Athletics for long-term growth in a rapidly changing college sports landscape.
Champions Blue Board of Governors
Seven voting members comprise the Champions Blue Board of Governors. The board reviews and provides counsel around long-term financial and facilities efforts and initiatives. Two additional members serve in non-voting, advisory capacities.
