Sharing Your Story Campus Message
Campus Community,
Among my greatest — and most gratifying — responsibilities is telling our story.
And ours is a powerful one.
Since 1865, we've managed to harness the turbulence that often accompanies an ever-growing institution; the ebbs and flows that refine a place like us...a place with profound responsibilities.
Of course, our successes lend credence to our name. But it's our determination to meet every moment, to discover and leverage opportunities unearthed only during a pressure test, that really defines our purpose.
Last Thursday, Vice President for Student Success Kirsten Turner and I were honored to share with Kentucky's Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) the progress we continue to make — progress made possible by you.
And today, in a time when the value of higher education across the country is scrutinized, a place like us has never been more important. We are proof...a testament to the power of education. An attestation of what a university makes possible.
We are here to be the University of, for and with Kentucky. And, as we reported to CPE, UK continues to meet every moment.
Kentucky needs more outstanding health professionals; we’ve leveraged our partnerships and infrastructure to incentivize an interdisciplinary approach to education. Kentucky needs to advance during this critical inflection point; we identified five areas of opportunity to accelerate that mission. Kentucky needs a strong and educated workforce; we opened our doors wider, worked to build a community of belonging and focused on eliminating the barriers that can prohibit a student's progress.
Your work is important. What you do every day, as a student or employee, is transformational. And I am deeply grateful for how you uphold our legacy — our promise to Kentucky. If you'd like to see more of our proof, I encourage you to watch our presentation to CPE, which is linked below.
