Sharing the Stories, Promise of the University of Kentucky Sharing the Stories, Promise of the University of Kentucky Sharing the Stories, Promise of the University of Kentucky
Campus Community,
At UK, there is evidence that we are on a trajectory of ascent to advance Kentucky. We do this with an uncommon commitment to the common good of our state.
- Graduation rates have increased by 10 percentage points over the last decade, placing us among the top universities in the country.
- We treat more than 40,000 patients at our hospitals each year — more than double the number from 20 years ago.
- Our research enterprise projects nearly $500 million in annual grants and contracts this year, with much of those resources focused squarely on the challenges that affect our state.
- And service that continues to extend to all 120 counties of the Commonwealth, from farmlands to water systems, from the smallest town to the biggest metro areas.
Behind each number is a story — a story of people, of students and faculty, of staff and the state we serve.
I hope to use this space to shine a spotlight on those stories and those people who make this place so special. We will still, at times, use this update to discuss issues that confront and challenge our community.
But I hope we never lose sight of the stories of discovery and healing, of odds overcome and doors of possibility opened.
Here are a few of those stories:
These are the stories of who we are and what we do.
These are the stories of our promise.
