Campus Community,

Last week, our university focused firmly on the future of our campus — and how we will accelerate our efforts to impact the Commonwealth. We also honored those from our past who made us who we are today.

At Friday’s Board of Trustees meeting, we heard updates from our five work groups about their work to  accelerate UK's purpose. These work groups — composed of dedicated faculty, staff and students — have moved quickly and purposefully to evaluate, listen and discover the most impactful ways we can boost our state’s workforce in our mission to the Commonwealth.

In addition, we came together to reflect on those who worked tirelessly to build the foundation of the education, research, service and care we provide to the people of Kentucky. I was honored to present the 2024 Founders Day Award to Mira S. Ball as we paid tribute to her legacy of leadership and service to our university.

I encourage you to take a moment to read, watch and listen to the stories of these groundbreaking members of the Wildcat family who helped move our campus forward in so many impactful ways.

Celebrate a legend.

Learn from history.

Find joy in giving.

Our state depends on us today — just like it did when we were founded nearly 160 years ago.

Thank you for ensuring we will advance Kentucky in even more innovative and meaningful ways in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Eli Capilouto

President
