Charge: Project Team #11 will develop and recommend a policy that reflects the university’s values on responsible speech while respecting the protections provided under the US Constitution. The role of the Project Team is not to develop final policy, but to recommend and propose one for the DEI Chair’s consideration.
To begin, the committee will address three areas of speech:
- How students engage in speech with one another and with faculty/staff (from both the viewpoint of the speaker and the spoken to).
- How faculty, instructors and staff speak to students (and how students hear what is said to them).
- How students, faculty and staff are spoken to by community members on and around the UK campus.
